    Hello,

I guess it was meant to be to see your post.  This is my first time on this site and I saw you.

I hate to tell you this, but... unfortunately there is no cure for bipolar disorder.  There are wonderful treatments out there that enable those of us with the disease to cope and deal with life better.  But, there is no being "cured".

Maybe you have learned to deal with your behaviors and feel that the way you are is ok and normal.

I don't know your whole situation, but would love to discuss sometime.

    Good luck sweetie.

I have to agree with Mel.  I'm a psychology major, there is no "cure" for bipolar disorder, or really any mental illness.  Most of them don't even have exact causes yet, you have to remember psychology is a really new science, and psychiatry is even newer.  If the medication helped you enough through one part of bipolar, that doesn't mean that it won't come back.  Bipolar disorder is characterized by months of  highs and months lows.  So I wouldn't completely discard the medication yet.  Your dad may be right, and you very well could 'wig out' at any moment.

I do wish you all the best!

Yeah, unfortunately Bipolar is a disorder that has to be treated with medication, and there is no cure for any disorder other than phobias. Just because you don't think you're showing symptoms doesn't mean you're better. You could be at a stable state between manic/depressive episodes, which could last for any amount of time. You could enter either at any time, seriously. Furthermore, you should never stop cold turkey and never stop any medications without your doctor's approval.

Also, I'm not sure why this was posted in this forum. There is a Depression/Bipolar forum.

If you really are functioning normally (do others say you are?) then - if you truly have bipolar - you are going through a phase of normality and will eventually relapse (and need medication - or those supplements from canada for bp).

The other possibility is that you were misdiagnosed.  Sometimes its just really hard to tell what is going on with kids and teens. Only time will tell.

In the meantime, try to remain as stable and healthy as possible (ya know - eat well, sleep well) and see a therapist on an ongoing basis so you'll have the support if or when you need it (without waiting until things get really bad).

    Good luck!
